The Granary Cottage History

Originally built around 200 years ago as an extension to the 1642 farm house, it provided them with a dairy, cheese rooms, to store their double and single Gloucester cheese and a granary, to store oats and grain to feed their animals. It also then had a pig sty in what is now the lower patio area. Once small cheese production became unviable and larger gain stores were needed the Granary became redundant and was used as a wood shed, store rooms and an over large rabbit hutch for John’s pet rabbits! By the early ‘70’s it was in a sorry state and John’s father decided to have it completely gutted and made into a holiday cottage. After being used variously as a holiday cottage, private rental and a granny annexe, it has once again been completely refurbished and made ready for the 2011 holiday season.
